&lt;p&gt;I wouldn't put much stock in what I blogged in 2003 ;-) I had to follow your link to see what I said.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But I would disagree with Holt's point as far as thinking you know your audience. I am most confident the majority of a blog reader audience never let's you know they are there, where they are from, why they are there. Even if you are one of the few that analyzes server logs, that only gives you superficial data. How do you write for such a group? Well, you just take some best guesses, and only if you are really lucky you may get a comment.&lt;/p&gt;
