What do teachers make?

Thanks to Steve Dembo for pointing this one out. I had read Taylor Mali’s poem before, but the power and passion he delivers in performance speaks for all teachers. As the school year draws to a close, this is a great message to remind us why we do what we do!

    I left some comments on Dembo’s blog basically feeling a bit uneasy about some of the comments and the tone of the video….”I make parents tremble and fear when I call home” or “I tell kids you don’t have to go to the bathroom”….As a performance, it’s pretty good but I worry it continues to portray teachers as tyrants or dictators, benevolent maybe but still dictators.
