&lt;p&gt;I did have one minor thought, when you were discussing the new "digital divide" that may be introduced by self publishing tools like weblogs. Do traditional journals still accept type-written pages, or do they have to be .doc files? If they all require .doc files (and I'm sure many/most do), then there isn't really an additional digital divide introduced by self publishing tools...&lt;/p&gt;
